Public Affairs Worldwide

Public affairs is a worldwide Church program, actively functioning nearly everywhere that the Church is organized—and in many places where the Church is not yet fully organized. The full-time work of the Church Public Affairs Department, conducted under the supervision of the First Presidency, is complemented by the work of thousands of called public affairs directors and public affairs council members at the stake, multistake, specially named regional, national, and Church-area levels throughout the world.

Full-Time Offices

The Public Affairs Department of the Church maintains full-time offices in the following cities:

Work at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City and management of Church area-level public affairs work consumes nearly all of the day-to-day resources of the Public Affairs Department personnel. Accordingly, multistake and stake public affairs councils are asked to look to local priesthood leaders for guidance. Priesthood leaders, in turn, can call on their respective specially named regional, national, and area public affairs councils for support and training. Stake and multistake directors of public affairs should generally only contact the Church Public Affairs Department on the recommendation of their local priesthood leaders.

Public Affairs Missionaries

At any given time, full-time public affairs missionary couples can be found serving in various places around the world. These couples provide support to full-time public affairs offices, give day-to-day assistance to area public affairs councils, conduct training for stake and multistake public affairs councils, and serve in a variety of other related capacities. Local couples should be called to serve whenever possible.

Couples interested in serving a public affairs mission should indicate this on their application for full-time missionary service. For more information about serving a public affairs mission call 801-240-2205.
